At Kwafrika Travel, we believe that tourism is not just about destinations, it’s about people, stories, and meaningful experiences. That’s why we recently conducted an intensive tour guide training program for 10 new staff members, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to become exceptional tour guides and tour specialists.
This initiative aligns with our strategic expansion into Central and Eastern Africa, marked by the opening of two new offices in Kinshasa and Kampala. As we grow, we remain committed to delivering authentic, safe, and enriching travel experiences across the region.
A Deep Dive into the Tour Guide Training
The tour guide training took place over three rigorous days, blending theory, practical exercises, and real-world simulations. Led by our seasoned trainers—Mr. Veridique Musambaghani, the tour specialist and manager with over 8 years of experience in the DRC and East Africa, and Mr. Daniel Maghaviro, a tour specialist at Kwafrika Travel.
Quote from Veridique Musambaghani, CEO of Kwafrika Travel:
“At Kwafrika Travel, we believe that empowering local talent is the cornerstone of sustainable tourism. This tour guide training is not just about skills, it’s about building ambassadors of culture, conservation, and connection across Africa.”
The training covered:
Introduction to tourism and the role of a guide
Ecotourism principles and minimizing environmental impact
Visitor profiling and building rapport
Interpretive communication techniques
Leadership, safety, and emergency response
Itinerary design and entrepreneurship in tourism
Each participant received a comprehensive syllabus and underwent a strict evaluation process, including a general knowledge test and a practical assessment during a live guided tour.
Kinshasa Familiarization Trip – June 22, 2025
To complement the classroom learning, our trainees embarked on a 1-day familiarization trip in Kinshasa, guided by our senior expert Terrence Mwanza. This immersive experience was designed to deepen their understanding of the capital’s cultural, historical, and ecological landmarks.
Itinerary Highlights:
Part of the group of learners at the Mausoleum of former president Laurent Desiré Kabila
Lola ya Bonobo Sanctuary– A world-unique refuge for bonobos, our closest primate relatives.
National Museum of the DRC– A modern showcase of Congolese heritage and art.
Central Railway Station (1932)– A colonial-era symbol of transport and trade.
Independence Square– A powerful monument to Congolese sovereignty.
Académie des Beaux-Arts– The heart of Kinshasa’s vibrant art scene.
Marché des Voleurs (Zando)– A bustling local market full of color and character.
This familiarization trip not only enhanced the guides’ destination knowledge but also reinforced their interpretive and group management skills in a real-world setting.
Quote from Terrence Mwanza, Senior Tour Guide and Trainer:
“Guiding is more than showing places, it’s about telling stories that inspire. Through this familiarization trip, our trainees didn’t just learn routes; they discovered the soul of Kinshasa and the responsibility that comes with being a guide.”

Investing in Quality and Regional Growth
This tour guide training is part of our broader mission to professionalize tourism in the DRC and beyond. With new offices in Kinshasa and Kampala, we are better positioned to serve travelers exploring the heart of Africa, from the volcanic peaks of Virunga to the cultural corridors of Kinshasa and the biodiversity of Uganda.
In 2025, Kwafrika Travel has significantly expanded its network of global partners to better serve a growing international clientele. Among our new collaborators are TDR Japan, Romaric Tour Guide Ltd (Republic of Congo), Pleasures Tours (China), and Kuanza Initiatives (DR Congo), which supports enhanced communication and outreach. These partnerships reflect our commitment to building a strong, interconnected tourism ecosystem—because in this industry, collaboration is key.
We are also proud to witness the strategic partnership between the Democratic Republic of Congo and two prestigious European football clubs, AS Monaco and AC Milan, to promote the DRC as a premier travel destination. This initiative aims to boost international awareness of the DRC and other countries in the heart of Africa, following the successful models of Tanzania, Rwanda, and Uganda.

At Kwafrika Travel, we’re not just building tours, we’re building capacity, community, and connection. Our latest tour guide training initiative is a testament to our commitment to excellence, sustainability, and local empowerment.
