Applying for the DR Congo Visa as an expatriate

Thanks to reform initiated last year, applying for the DR Congo Visa as an expatriate is now possible online. The process will take you no more than 3 days and will require you to login and create an account at the EVISA RDC.

EVISA DRC is the official platform set up by the General Directorate of Migration of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in order to facilitate applications, payments and the granting of flying visas, through this platform, all the processes applying for the DR Congo Visa as an expatriate are made in a single delay not exceeding 72 hours.

Upon connecting to the EVISA RDC, you will be required to create an account using your email address and creating a password. The steps to applying for the DR Congo Visa as an expatriate are sixfold:

1°. Create an account: Go to EVISA RDC and create an account.

2°. Applicant information: Here you need to fill in information about yourself (the applicant).

The information includes but not limited to:

  • The type of visa you are applying for: While there are many types of visa to the DR Congo, the EVISA platform is focused on only two types of visa :
    • Visa volant ordinaire (Ordinary Flying Visa) : Authorization granted by the Director General to expatriate coming from a country where the DRC has no diplomatic or consular representation.It will cost you around 250 $US
    • Visa volant specific (Specific Flying Visa) : Authorization granted to experts for a period which may not exceed 1 year.It is not renewable. It will cost you around 800 $US
  • The preferred date of entry, the passport number and its validity (last year), the applicant’s full name, date and place of birth, a digital passport photo and the bio copy of your passport. You will also be required to provide a reason why you are applying for the DR Congo Visa in not more than 2000 words. Here, you must make sure that your reason matches with the type of visa you selected above.

3°. Responsible: Here you will have to provide someone who will be responsible for your stay in DR Congo. It might be a citizen or noncitizen of the DRC but residing in the country. You will be asked to provide information about his names, place and date of birth, Passport or ID Card n°, relationship with the responsible together with his application letter, copy of passport or ID Card and if applicable the copy of his visa.

4°. Summary: You will then be given a summary all of the information provided above for you to cross check if everything has been filled out well.

5°. Payment: This is the last sept of your online application where you will be required to pay for your visa. Visa and MasterCard debit and credit cards are accepted.

It will take 72 hours for the General Directorate of Migration to process your application. If accepted, you will be granted an electronic visa to your email that will make you subject to an airport or port visa to enter Congolese territory.
