Navigating Your Central African Republic Visa: The Complete 2026 Guide
Securing a Central African Republic visa requires careful planning, but it is the first step toward an unforgettable expedition into the heart of the continent. At Kwafrika Travel, we prioritize your seamless entry into Bangui (CAR). As your dedicated travel partner, we manage the technical documentation so you can focus on the adventure ahead.

Choosing the Right Application Path
The method you use to enter the country depends largely on your nationality and whether a diplomatic mission exists in your home country.
1. Standard Embassy Application
If your country of residence hosts an Embassy of the Central African Republic, you should obtain your entry permit before departure. We recommend starting your Central African Republic tourist visa application well in advance. To support your request, Kwafrika Travel provides every guest with a formal Visa Invitation Letter. Alternatively if, you are planning to book a combo trip involving starting your journey whether in Rwanda or Kinshasa (DRC) for more than 48 hours, we can get you a express visa to CAR at Central African Republic embassies in the two countries.
Please contact our consultants for the most recent consular fees. Since the Ministry of Foreign Affairs updates these rates periodically, we ensure you have the most accurate information before you submit your paperwork.
2. Visa on Arrival: The “Message Porté” Service
If no diplomatic representation exists in your country, you can still obtain your Central African Republic visa upon arrival at Bangui M’Poko International Airport.
To facilitate this, we arrange a message porté, an official police authorization. This document allows you to board your flight and serves as your entry permit until you reach the border. Please be advised that upon arrival, your passport will be is ordinarily taken by the immigration officer so that they can bring it to the Immigration Office in Bangui to get stamped since Message porté is a document issued by the immigration, not the police. So, if you are visiting two 2 to 3 days and arriving on Friday, this might not be a good option for you. It’s simply because since, your return date might occur before the following Monday which is the day when the immigration is supposed to put visa in your passport.
3. Getting your visa from the Central African Republic Embassy in DR Congo
For travelers joining a Kwafrika Travel multi-country expedition that includes a stay of up to 72 hours in Kinshasa, DR Congo, we offer specialized assistance in securing your entry permits for the Central African Republic.
Through our established coordination with the CAR Embassy in Kinshasa, we can facilitate a one-month visitor’s visa on your behalf.
Process & Fees
- Processing Time: Typically completed within 48 hours.
- Service Fee: Approximately 350 USD.

Visa-Exempt Countries for 2026
Recent diplomatic updates have expanded the list of travelers who do not require a formal Central African Republic tourist visa application for stays up to 90 days.
Currently, citizens from the following nations can enter with just a valid passport:
- Africa: Burundi, Rwanda, DRC, Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, Chad, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Niger, and Senegal.
- International: United States, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Final Checklist for Your Arrival
Even if you are eligible for a visa on arrival, you must prepare a few essentials to finalize your Central African Republic tourist visa application at the airport terminal.
- Passport Photos: Carry two (2) recent, color passport-sized photographs.
- Visa Fees: We recommend carrying approximately €100 in cash. While fees vary, this amount covers any administrative updates or stamp duties.
- Currency Requirements: Please bring Euros (EUR). Local authorities and banks rarely accept US Dollars at the airport, and exchange rates for USD remain unfavorable.
Important Arrival Protocols
Upon landing, immigration officers may temporarily keep your passport to finalize the stamping process. Do not be alarmed; this is standard procedure, and we will help you retrieve it within 24 to 48 hours.
Because the CAR remains a cash-based society, ensure you carry enough Euros for your initial stay. For your time in the capital, we recommend the Ledger Plaza Hotel if visiting Bangui and Doli Lodge and/or Sangha Lodge for those experiencing the Dzangha Sangha Rainforest Reserve.
Please note that the Central African Republic, like many countries in Central Africa, requires tour operators to arrange visas only for travelers who have booked travel services or activities with them.
Therefore, we do not offer Central African Republic visa arrangements as a standalone service. Visa support is provided exclusively as part of a confirmed travel booking organized by Kwafrika Travel.
